Intellijoint Surgical is looking for a Technical Project Manager to lead technical development projects and initiatives. Relevant technical backgrounds include software engineering, medical imaging, computer vision and surgical instrument design. This role requires directing R&D project teams to develop and release impactful products / updates and requires a multi-disciplinary technical skill set. Job Duties and Responsibilities

  • Lead the execution of one to three technical development projects from start to finish, including design updates, new product development, NPI and sustaining
  • Manage and rally the project team, encouraging efficiency and speed
  • Act as the main point of contact for all project issues and provide necessary input to the team
  • Ensure compliance with quality system, SOP’s
  • Risk management: design, production and field deployment
  • Perform and oversee system and test engineering functions
  • Provide mentorship to junior engineering project staff
  • Drive design decisions, working in collaboration with relevant stakeholders
  • Manage architectural design; carry multiple architectures early on, and efficient drive to project toward single architecture, optimized across technical and non-technical domains
  • Drive product feature decisions based on trade-offs between various considerations (project, technical, regulatory, etc.) 
  • Ensure designs are correctly transferred to production
  • Project planning and early-stage project assessments (e.g. estimate resources, schedule, budgets)
  • Communicate project plans and/or status with senior management to inform strategic decision making

Required Skills and Experience

  • Project management (PM certification desirable)
  • Relevant technical disciplines: mechanical engineering (particularly surgical instrumentation), software engineering, medical image processing / computer vision / registration
  • Five to seven plus years experience in a similar role
  • Technical communication
  • Product development process (regulated industry experience, especially medical)
  • Working effectively with product management, including performing product management functions as needed
  • Developed products from inception through design, testing, manufacturing and field support / sustaining
  • Experience in small/medium sized organization is preferred
