Kitchener, ON January 10, 2023- Intellijoint Surgical would like to acknowledge a huge lifetime accomplishment and highest civilian honour to our colleague and friend Dr. Allan Gross, for being appointed to the Order of Canada for his significant advancements in bone and cartilage transplantation. 

Since 1967, The Order of Canada honours those who make extraordinary contributions to our nation. 

Allan Gross, MD is a renowned Orthopaedic Surgeon, educator and researcher with Mount Sinai Hospital, Toronto Chair of Lower Extremity Reconstructive Surgery and Professor of Surgery with the University of Toronto. In 1972, Dr. Gross performed Canada's first fresh tissue knee transplant and five years later, Canada's first hip joint transplant. At Sinai Health, Dr. Gross created the most comprehensive transplant program in the world and tissue bank for research, enabling continued advancement and improved outcomes for orthopaedic patients.
 

Included in his incredible career, Dr. Gross also served as the Toronto Blue Jay’s Orthopaedic Surgeon from 1981-2017 in addition to publishing multiple books related to revision arthroplasty and bone and cartilage transplantation. 

Dr. Allan Gross has worked with Intellijoint Surgical on our Scientific Advisory Board for years, providing us with valuable insight for product development on our knee and hip products. We are thrilled to extend our congratulations to Dr. Gross for this well-deserved accomplishment and honour.
